Abstract: The activation of processes related to digitalization – the penetration of digital technologies into all areas of activity – creates broad opportunities for improving the operations of enterprises, in particular for the development of their competencies, which allows them to form and strengthen their competitive advantages and ensure an adequate level of their competitiveness. The purpose of the article is to explore the theoretical and situational aspects of ensuring the development of enterprise competencies in the context of digitalization and to construct a behavioral model for utilizing the potential opportunities for the development of enterprise competencies that are formed through digitalization. During the research, the works of domestic scientists were analyzed, which highlighted current issues of ensuring enterprise competencies and the impact of digitalization on the functioning of enterprises. A situational and behavioral approach was applied to enterprise management, along with matrix analysis, which made it possible to determine scenarios for transforming potential development capabilities of enterprise competencies in the context of digitalization. The main vectors of opportunities created by digitalization in the context of ensuring the development of enterprise competencies are identified. It is found that the primary vectors of opportunities are the formation of new competencies, improvement of existing competencies, and support for new and traditional competencies of the enterprise. A behavioral model for utilizing potential opportunities for the development of enterprise competencies in the context of digitalization has been built, along with a comprehensive set of transformation matrices for the development of enterprise competencies in the context of digitalization (transformation matrices), depending on the starting position of the enterprise in terms of the competency level relative to competitors. It is determined that future research should be dedicated to developing approaches for assessing existing competencies of the enterprise and predicting their possible changes as a result of the introduction of digital technologies.
