Abstract:
The article examines the current issues and prospects for the integration of small and large businesses in Ukraine’s machine engineering sector within the framework of European integration. Based on an analysis of scientific sources, statistical data, and European experience, the study identifies the key barriers that hinder effective cooperation among enterprises of various sizes, specifically institutional, legal, personnel, and technological barriers. Conceptual approaches to shaping a new industrial policy are outlined, which is based on creating an industrial ecosystem that combines the flexibility of small enterprises with the capacities of large ones. The authors systematize integration models – cluster, digital, dual, hybrid – that are relevant for Ukrainian conditions while adhering to the principles of sustainable development and the EU standards. Practical mechanisms have been proposed to support integration processes: launching a digital platform for B2B cooperation, forming regional cooperation hubs, expanding dual education programs, and creating a targeted fund for the development of industrial cooperation. The feasibility of formalizing contractual relationships between SMEs and large businesses is well-founded, as well as the necessity of institutional support on the part of the State and relevant associations. The results of the research can be utilized by government authorities, enterprises, industry associations, and educational institutions in developing strategies for industrial development, post-war recovery programs, and adaptation to the European economic space.
