Research interests:

  • Postwar economic recovery in Ukraine; national security and development of the defense-industrial complex;
  • Industrial policy and priorities for modernizing the economy; establishing the competitiveness of the national economy and ensuring economic security of the State;
  • Energy security and energy efficiency of the economy;
  • Decarbonization and the circular economy;
  • Sustainable development challenges;
  • Innovative development, integration of education, science and business; commercialization of scientific developments.

Academic achievements:

  • Work experience: more than 30 years in education and research; 10 years in industrial enterprises; 11 years in banking sector; and 6 years in regional and national government bodies;
  • First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2020-2021);
  • Director of the Research Center for Industrial Problems of Development of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2006–2020);
  • Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, specialty «Industry»;
  • Honorary Title «Honored Economist of Ukraine» (2009);
  • M. Tugan-Baranovskiy Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for the series of scientific papers «High-tech components of industrial policy in Ukraine» (2014 );
  • Member of Committee for the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2012–2020);
  • Deputy Chairman of the Expert Council of Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine (2011–2013);
  • Head of the Kharkiv regional office of the REGIONET network (EU);
  • Head of the teams of developers of the Strategy of socioeconomic development of Kharkiv region until 2011, Strategy of socioeconomic development of Kharkiv region until 2015, Strategy of sustainable development of Kharkiv region until 2020 Strategy of development of the city of Kharkiv until 2020, Strategy of socioeconomic development of Kharkiv region until 2011;
  • Participant (lead and responsible executor) more than 50 fundamental and applied research and research projects carried out by National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • Participant of the project carried out with grant support of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine «Creation of synthetic liquid fuel production from coal in Ukraine in the war and postwar periods» (2023 – 2024);
  • Supervisor of 21 Ph.D. and 11 D.Sc. dissertations;
  • Head of the specialized academic council for conferring academic degrees D 64.251.01 (at Research Center for Industrial Problems of Development of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) (2007–2020);
  • Member of the specialized academic council for conferring academic degrees D 64.251.01 (in Research Center for Industrial Problems of Development of National academy of sciences of Ukraine) (2020–);
  • Author more than 750 scientific publications, including more than 130 monographs and more than 450 scientific articles;
  • Associate member of the Ukrainian Association for the Development of Management and Business Education (UAMDBE) (since 2023 – present).

  • 2020 – «Order of Merit» of the 2rd Degree;
  • 2018 – Commemorative award in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • 2013 – «Order of Merit» of the 3rd Degree;
  • 2011 – «Twenty Years of Independence of Ukraine» Medal;
  • 2010 – Letter of Gratitude by the Kharkiv Regional Council for significant contribution to the development of science;
  • 2009 – Letter of Gratitude by the Kharkiv Regional Council for significant contribution to the development of science confined to the 90th Anniversary of Establishment of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • 2008 – Gold sign of S. Kuznets Kharkiv National Economic University;
  • 2005 – Sign of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine «For Scientific Achievements».
